Peloton Bike and Bike+ use magnetic resistance controlled through the touchscreen. When resistance stops responding — or stays locked at one level regardless of what the console shows — the cause is almost always one of three things:

The Peloton touchscreen is a tablet-style Android display. Common problems include: screen freezing or crashing (usually a software issue — a forced restart often resolves it); touchscreen unresponsive to touch (digitizer failure requiring display assembly replacement); black screen/won't power on (failed display, power delivery issue, or loose wiring harness); and physically cracked screen (display replacement by a technician).
Peloton bikes ship with Look Delta cleats and SPD-SL-compatible pedals. Common issues: cleats won't clip in or out smoothly (usually worn cleats — replace every 6–12 months); pedal threads stripped (Peloton pedals use reverse-thread on the left side — forcing the wrong direction strips threads, requiring crank re-tap or replacement); pedal wobble or creak (loose pedal body or worn pedal bearing).
Peloton's live classes require a stable Wi-Fi connection. When the bike drops connection: check signal strength at the bike's location and consider a 5 GHz connection or a mesh node near the bike. Bluetooth heart rate monitor pairing issues usually resolve by forgetting the device and re-pairing. If the bike won't connect to any Wi-Fi, the internal Wi-Fi adapter may have failed — a hardware repair.
The most common Peloton noise complaint is clicking from the bottom bracket — often caused by a loose or worn bearing. Re-greasing and torquing to spec typically resolves it. Creaking from saddle or handlebar post is usually loose hardware. Grinding from the flywheel area indicates a worn flywheel bearing — a professional repair requiring full drive assembly access.
